Ume “Japanese apricot” in Odawara is a traditional product that has been around since the Edo period. It is cultivated mainly in Soga region, which is located on the east side of the city.
Especially, Juro Ume is an original variety of Odawara, and it is useful for pickling apricots because of its soft flesh. The sun-drying work has become a summer tradition in the region.
