Kiwifruit

Domestic cultivation of kiwifruit began in the early 1970s. Although historically short, the nutritious kiwifruit has become one of the indispensable fruits on the Japanese table, riding on the health-conscious boom. Since it is relatively resistant to pests, it is also easy to cultivate without pesticides. Many mandarin orange farmers grow kiwifruit in Odawara.
